Netflix & Chills

This is absolutely THE month all you horror fans should take advantage of the free month trial of Netflix if you don't already have it!! They have an awesome assortment of horror lined up for the month- from cult classics to Netflix originals, there is something for every horror lover.

These are not all of what they are offering, but they are10 of my personal favorites.

IT FOLLOWS

(2015)

This is a genuinely scary movie, and that means a lot coming from me, because virtually nothing scares me anymore.

The movie is basically about a sexually-transmitted haunting. Once someone gets the "curse" they have to pass it on to another person by having sex. Otherwise they are relentlessly pursued by someone they know...or maybe it will be a stranger...possibly living and/or dead.

I love the original concept of this film. Originality is something we rarely see in horror movies, so it is quite refreshing to find something likes this ! And it is such a creepy movie, which is definitely a plus!!

All The Boys Love Mandy Lane (2006)

I am always surprised when people say they have never heard of this one. It has been on my favorites list since it came out.

It is a classic teenage slasher flick with a clever twist at the end ..and it stars Amber Heard.

Before I Wake

(2016)

This is a supernatural thriller starring Jacob Tremblay (Room & Wonder), Kate Bosworth & Thomas Jane.

The main premise of it is that the boy's dreams (or nightmares) manifest themselves in reality. It has some incredible visuals, and although I have seen a lot of bad reviews for it, I think it is a really good, spooky little film.

The Babysitter

(2017)

I almost didn't add this one to this list because I did not find it the least bit scary .. BUT since it is classified as horror and I absolutely love this film, I figured Why not...

It is about a boy that stays up to see what his babysitter does after he goes to sleep.. Some actors you will probably recognize are Samara Weaving, Leslie Bibb & Bella Thorne.

This is a really fun film and has a ton of action in it..I highly recommend it !

The Ritual (2017)

This is a Netflix original. I totally enjoyed this movie, and it has a genuinely eerie feel to it.

The plot - friends go hiking through the Scandinavian wilderness. They get lost and end up in the mysterious forests of Norse legend, where an ancient evil exists and begins hunting them down.

Tales of Halloween

(2015)

This is a horror/comedy anthology film, with ten short stories that all take place in a suburban American town where its residents are terrorized by ghouls, aliens, and killers one Halloween night as a DJ (Adrienne Barbeau) adds her commentary to each one.

The titles of the short stories are: Sweet Tooth, The Night Billy Raised Hell, Trick, The Weak and the Wicked, Grim Grinning Ghost, Ding Dong, This Means War, Friday the 31st, The Ransom of Rusty Rex, & Bad Seed .

The Sixth Sense

(1999)

The movie that put M. Night Shyamalan on the virtual horror movie map.

I don't feel like any explanation of this is even remotely necessary, especially since this blog is all about horror, but here goes nothin'..

It is a supernatural horror film with the biggest twist that no one saw coming. It is about a boy who can see dead people.

The Village

(2004)

A much less popular film by M. Night Shyamalan, about a community of people,in what appears to be the 19th century. They all live in fear of creatures in the surrounding woods and have built barriers for protection and watch towers to keep constant watch.. Loaded with famous actors, including Joaquin Phoenix, Adrien Brody, Bryce Dallas Howard, William Hurt, & Sigourney Weaver.

Personally, I have liked every film Shyamalan has done (yes, even Lady in the Water) & this particular one has always been one of my favorites from him.

The Shining

(1980)

The movie poster does an excellent job describing this one- "A Masterpiece of Modern Horror"..

This film is about a writer who takes his family with him and becomes the off-season caretaker of the secluded Overlook Hotel, where he slowly goes mad.

se7en

(1995)

Described as a neo-noir crime thriller on Wikipedia, this one stars Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt, Gweneth Paltrow & Kevin Spacey.

It is about 2 detectives trying to track down a serial killer who uses the seven deadly sins as a motif in his murders.
